On September 22, State Representatives Jerry Petrowski and
Donna Seidel announced the passage of an Assembly Joint Resolution
proclaiming October as Wisconsin Kids Voting USA Month. Petrowski
stated, "It teaches children how democracy works and
shows them the importance of actively participating in government."
The program is designed to teach students civic engagement
by having them cast separate ballots on Election Day during
school or with their parents. These ballots are then collected
and the results are published separately from the actual Election
Day results. Seidel said, "The Wausau Daily Herald's
contribution to Kids Voting USA is representative of our community's
commitment to civic action and participation."
