Six Traits Writing

This page is designed to provide you information regarding each of the Six Traits taught by teachers in the Wausau School District.  The Six Traits style of writing instruction breaks down student writing into areas commonly addressed by teachers at all levels.  Even though writing is broken down into six areas a holistic approach is taken to teaching and evaluating student writing.  While a teacher or student may choose to focus on specific trait for a lesson or even a short period of time, students are expected to utilize the other traits.  No one trait can be isolated.

Simply click on the Trait you would like to learn more about.  This will take you to a page that discusses the trait in depth and also provides examples of student writing that best emphasize the trait.
