Overview
To achieve satisfaction through the development
of fundamental skills and knowledge that will carry into everyday
life.
Objectives
- Know proper health practices
- Know proper body mechanics (basic skills) for sports and
other physical health and fitness
- Have developed a positive attitude toward physical activity
and are motivated to maintain their physical health and
fitness
- To provide students with a basic understanding of physical
fitness and how it applies to healthy living
- To have an experience in knowing how it feels to be physically
fit
- Know their body potential through tests and activities
attempted
- To provide learning situations to promote proper safety
precautions for individual and community living
- To provide a wide variety of activities in which students
may develop skills
At the 9th/10th grade level, the following activities
provide these learning opportunities: Adaptive P.E., Badminton,
Cross Country Skiing, Flag Football, Floor Hockey, Weight
Training, Physical Fitness, Speedball, Tennis, Tinikling,
Track & Field, Volleyball, Wrestling, Handball.
grade 10 to 12
Overview
Physical education is an integral part of total
education. Every student is given the opportunity to develop
and maintain good physical and mental health and experience
activities which are stimulating, gratifying and carry into
every day life.
Objectives
- To develop the confidence to participate in a variety
of activities.
- To provide activities which will allow students the opportunities
to develop skills in interest areas of their choice.
- To design and/or participate in a variety of activities
for total wellness.
- To promote an appreciation of democratic procedures through
group planning and group interaction.
- To monitor exercise and other behaviors related to a healthy
lifestyle.
- To provide opportunities to acquire self-discipline, carry
out responsibilities, and learn the value of personal integrity.
- To recognize that time and effort are prerequisites for
skill improvement and fitness benefits.
At the 10-12 grade level, the following activities
provide these learning opportunities: Adaptive P. E., Adaptive
P.E. - School Age Moms, Adventure Based Activities, Aerobics,
Archery, Badminton, Beginning Swimming, Bowling, Broomball,
Exercise Physiology, Golf, Field Hockey, Figure Skating, Handball,
Judo, Lifestyle Awareness, Racquet Ball, School Forest Leadership,
Down Hill Skiing, Slimnastics, Soccer, Social Dance, Softball,
Speedball, Student Instructor, Tennis, Track & Field,
Volleyball, Weight Training, Winter Games, Young Adult, Medicine.
