 | Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Begins at UW-Marathon County on February 4
Volunteers will be available to help individuals prepare and file federal and
Wisconsin tax returns at the
UW-Marathon County Campus on Saturdays beginning on Feb. 4th. The program is
supported by the
Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy and Service (WIPPS) and the AmeriCorps*VISTA
program.
Assistance is available on the following Saturdays from 9am-1pm: Feb. 4, 11, 18,
March 3, 10, 17, 31, and
April 7.
The VITA site will be open to local residents with a household income of $49,000
or less, and who do not own a business, farm, or rental property, or have
capital gains. Appointments are required and can be made by calling
715-261-6285.
About VITA
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is a cooperative effort by
the Internal Revenue Service and many individual states, including Wisconsin, to
provide income tax assistance to low-income individuals, handicapped or elderly.
Volunteers are certified by the IRS to prepare returns free of charge.
