Why Take Art?

Want a job? Take Art. 2.8 million Americans work in the Visual Arts industry. Nearly every product we buy has been developed by a designer or artist.

The creative sector will be worth $6.1 trillion internationally in less than 15 years.

More people are employed in the Visual Arts than in all of the performing art and sport industries combined.

Want to be a doctor? Take Art.

Top medical schools in the nation have their students studying works of art in order to appreciate that medicine is often more an art than a science.

Formal art observation training improves medical students' visual literacy, mind-eye connection, and diagnostic skills.

C.A.F.E. Cultural Arts Festival at East

Each May for the past 19 years the Wausau community has had the opportunity to participate in the Cultural Arts Festival at East or C.A.F.E. Wausau East Art students fill the Commons and Auditorium hallways with their innovative and imaginative creations completed during the school year. This cumulative exhibit includes: paintings, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, along with numerous drawings and designs. Every student taking an art course has something on display! Many students sit with their displays to greet guests and share all their hard work.

Last year, many art students contributed work to an art sale to raise money for the Zambia Project affiliated with St. Norbert College. Sales raised $500.00.

C.A.F.E. also has many wonderful musical performances - both choral and instrumental, as well as ethic foods served up with a smile by Foreign Language, Foods, and Youth Culture Club. In addition the Technology Ed. Dept hosts an open house and the Greenhouse has a plant sale. The art tour and musical performances are open to the public free of charge. Ethnic food will be provided at a minimal cost as a fund-raising activity for the school's Foreign Language and ELL programs.

Check our school schedule and mark your calendar in May. Come and enjoy the visual splendor, outstanding entertainment, and delicious food!
