The
Power of
One. . .
The Wausau School District is
a leader in Wisconsin’s educational community. It holds
that distinction because its staff, administrators, parents,
and community members have an unparalleled commitment to providing
our students with the skills they need to be successful. In
times of great opportunity and times of great challenge, those
of us who make up the Wausau School District come back to
this mission as a guide for all we do.
The

of All newsletters ensure that
every member of the Wausau School District community is informed
and has the opportunity to participate in creating a dynamic
future for our schools. These newsletters chronicle our journey
as we address our District’s most vital work with one
voice.

The Strength
of All
Nothing is more energizing than collaborating on the
most important work of the organization. That’s why
it is truly exciting to have so many School District staff
and community members involved in our Strategic Planning Action
Teams and Priority Work Teams. Under the auspices of the Innovation
Council, these Teams are focused on our most important work—planning
a strong future for our schools.
Five Strategic Action Teams spent most of the 2008-2009 school
year focused on Enhancing District Technology Capabilities,
Creating Culture and Language Instruction Throughout All Grades,
Focusing Efforts on Critical thinking, Problem-solving, and
Life Skills; Incorporating Financial Literacy Across the Curriculum,
and Creating an Environment of Respect and Understanding for
Diversity. These Action Teams reported their recommendations
to the Innovation Council on April 8, 2009.
Their recommendations can be found at the left under the heading
"April 8, 2009, Final Reports."
Twelve Priority Work Teams are focused on the critical ongoing
work of the District. Leveraging staff knowledge and leadership,
these Priority Work Teams are focused
on the key areas of Organizational Culture, Standing Within
the Community, Fiscal Strength, Student Learning/School Improvement,
Whole Child/Whole Community, Human Resource Excellence, Leadership
Capacity, Impactful Governance,
Focused Monitoring Support, High School Reform/Career Clusters,
Pearson Inform Support, and Engineering Charter School.
