 It's a Wonderful World!

A.C. Kiefer School is the home of the Wausau School District's Early Childhood Programs, and the coordination site for the Wausau School District's Four-Year-Old Preschool Collaboration Programs.

The Wausau School District's Early Childhood Programs serve children between the ages of 3 and 5 years who are exhibiting delays in the development of speech and language, learning, social/emotional and/or physical skills.  Family members, medical personnel, daycare providers and others may refer children residing in the Wausau School District for evaluation.  Our staff includes highly qualified professionals with state certification in early childhood education, speech and language pathology, psychology, social work, audiology, occupational and physical therapy.  We offer half day classes two, three, four and five days a week.  Students attending area childcare centers are also supported through our collaboration services for children with special needs.

The four-year-old preschool program provides language and literacy instruction to students who turn four by September 1st,  and reside within the Wausau School District.  Students attend school for two hours and thirty five minutes a day  from Monday through Friday.  We have two sessions, one running from 8:25 until 11:00 a.m., and the second running from 11:40 until 2:15 p.m.

The Preschool Collaboration Programs provide half-day preschool classes at local child care and preschool agencies.  The children enrolled in these programs must be four years old by September 1st and reside within the Wausau School District.  The agencies that house these programs include Little Scholars Child Care, Sherman Street, Rib Mountain Montessori, Newman Catholic Schools, Wausau Child Care, YMCA and YWCA Child Care Programs.  These classes are offered 5 days per week according to the school district calendar.  Pre-K programming is also offered through Head Start.

If you know of a child or family residing within the Wausau School District who would benefit from our programs please give us a call at (715) 261-2506.

Our motto, "A.C. Kiefer: It's a Wonderful World," is based on the popular song sung by Louis Armstrong.  This motto was chosen to reflect the optimistic and loving nature of our staff.  Families are welcomed into our programs with open arms and open hearts.  Our students represent all the colors of the rainbow and, like roses, we watch them grow and bloom.  So come in and visit.  Be a friend.  We'll shake your hand and ask, "How do you do?"  Then, you'll think to yourself, what a wonderful world...
