Welcome to Hewitt-Texas Elementary School! Hewitt-Texas Elementary School is located 11 miles northeast of Wausau, Wisconsin on County Highway J. We have a school population of 152 students in grades pre-K through 5th. We also offer before and after school childcare. We have a tremendous faculty and support staff; a group dedicated to helping all children achieve to their highest potential.
The townships of Hewitt and Texas built the Hewitt-Texas School in 1961. Because the school was located in the township of Texas, the township of Hewitt got to have its name used first. The school began operation in 1962, and became part of the Wausau School District consolidation. The school campus covers 13 beautiful country acres.
Hewitt-Texas School provides a family orientated atmosphere because of its small size and strong parental involvement. All of our grade levels are organized in straight-graded classrooms.
Hewitt-Texas School provides a balance of extra curricular activities including, flag football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, track, Book Bowl, and instrumental lessons.
Hewitt-Texas is very fortunate to have an active, successful Parent Network/Site Council. This parent organization sponsors many student activities and supports the school's educational program through various fund raising events. Their collaboration with the Kiwanis Club of Greater Wausau helped to develop a "wetland study area." This study area makes our school's curriculum unique; consequently, each classroom utilizes it as an intrinsic part of our writing and science curriculum. We seek and encourage parent and community participation in the education of our children.
Hewitt-Texas Elementary School is a warm, safe, nurturing environment where students are challenged to meet high academic expectations and to develop age appropriate social/emotional behaviors. Visitors are always welcome! Thank you for taking the time to visit our web page.
Yours in Education,
